Moving your pet to Minneapolis

Flying is the fastest way to move a pet from Seattle to Minneapolis: about 3.5 hours in the air, instead of days on the road. Your pet travels as airline cargo in an approved crate.

You can fly on the same day or on a different day from your pet. We plan the timing with you, so someone is ready at each end.

We choose the flight and the timing that are easiest on your pet. Every booking depends on airline space, the weather and the breed rules, so we confirm the flight with the airline before anything is final.

Airline rules that matter on this route

  • Health certificate: needed for every pet flying in the cargo hold, from a licensed vet, within 10 days of the flight. See vet health certificate for flying.
  • Temperature: the airline generally flies pets in the cargo hold only when the forecast is between 45°F and 85°F at every airport on the trip. See summer heat rules.
  • Breeds: snub-nosed breeds (including all bulldogs, boxers, pugs and mastiffs, and Persian and Himalayan cats) cannot fly in the cargo hold. See snub-nosed breeds and flying.
  • Size: pet and crate together up to 150 lb, in a crate up to the 500 series. Bigger pets get a custom quote. See airline pet crates.
  • Pickup on time: pets must be collected within 4 hours of landing, so the pickup is planned before we book.

Seattle to Minneapolis: questions

How much does it cost to ship a pet from Seattle to Minneapolis?
It depends mostly on your pet's size and weight: the airline charges by the weight of your pet and the crate together. The distance from your home to the airport at each end, whether you need a crate from us and the time of year count too. Fill in the form and on most dates you see your price on screen in about three minutes. See what affects the cost.
How long is the flight from Seattle to Minneapolis?
The scheduled flight time is about 3.5 hours. Your pet is handed in at airport cargo no more than 4 hours before departure and is usually ready about 1 hour after landing, so plan for most of a day from door to door.
Can you deliver my pet to my door in Minneapolis?
Yes. We arrange pickup at MSP airport cargo and delivery to your new home in the Minneapolis area. If you prefer, someone you choose can collect your pet at cargo instead. Your quote shows what is included for your address.
Does my pet need a health certificate to fly to Minneapolis?
Yes. The airline needs a health certificate from a licensed vet for every pet flying in the cargo hold, issued within 10 days of the flight. See vet health certificate for flying.
Can pets fly to Minneapolis in summer?
Yes, but the airline does not fly pets in the cargo hold when it is forecast to be over 85°F at an airport on the trip. We choose early flights and check the forecast before we confirm. See summer heat rules.
Can I fly on a different day from my pet?
Yes. Your pet flies on its own as airline cargo, so you can travel the same day or on a different day. Many owners fly first and send their pet a day or two later, once the new home is ready.
